You will be collected at your hotel in Summerstrand, Port Elizabeth, to depart for a tour of typical Eastern Cape natural beauty and history. Travel along the Gamtoos valley to the town of Hankey where you pay a visit to the grave and memorial site of Saartjie Baartman, a woman of Khoikhoi descent. She was taken to London in 1810 to be put on display at shows as a natural specimen of the natives of Africa. She was later sold to the French where she was again made a spectacle of, for people to gape at. She died in 1814 and was buried in France. On request of Pres. Nelson Mandela, the French allowed her remains to be returned to South Africa. She was reburied in the Gamtoos Valley where she was born.
Pay a visit to the largest sundial in South Africa and then travel to the Baviaanskloof (Valley of baboons). The valley was declared part of the Cape Floristic World Heritage Site. Marvel at the Baviaanskloof and Kouga Mountains that surround the valley and enjoy the diversity of plants and wild animals that is found here. Lunch will be en-route for own account.
