3 Days Port Elizabeth to Cape Town Scheduled Tour

The tour departs from Port Elizabeth. You travel west in the direction of Cape Town. Shortly after leaving Port Elizabeth the first hills of the mountain range that will dominate the whole tour become visible to the right. You travel on the Garden Route to the Tsitsikamma Forest where you turn off to Storm's River Mouth to enjoy the views of this rugged coastline. Continue to Knysna for the first overnight stay on the Knysna Waterfront. The following day the tour will take you along the western half of the Garden Route through scenic Wilderness and over the Outeniqua Pass to enter the Little Karoo. In Oudtshoorn you visit the Cango Caves, overnight and visit an ostrich farm before departing for Cape Town the following day. You travel along the popular Route 62 and en route a lunch stop is made (own account). The route takes you along the Sir Lowry’s Pass with wonderful views on False Bay and Table Mountain in the distance. You will be dropped off at your Cape Town Hotel or the Cape Town International Airport to end this tour.

Storms River Mouth suspension bridge

Day 1: Port Elizabeth to Knysna via the Tsitsikamma Forest (± 265 Km)

Destination: Knysna

You will be collected at your hotel in Port Elizabeth to depart for Knysna on the Garden Route. You travel on the National Highway (N2) in a westerly direction past the towns of Jeffreys Bay (famous as destination on the international surfers tour) and Humansdorp to the Tsitsikamma Forest where we turn off to Storm's River Mouth. Walk over the suspension bridge and enjoy the wonderful views of this rugged coast with waves crashing onto the rocks. The Tsitsikamma forest is home to a vast diversity of flora and birds. Enjoy lunch in the area (own account) and depart to travel past the town of Plettenberg Bay and further on to the popular town of Knysna. Check in at your hotel on the Waterfront and take some time to enjoy the views over the estuary and browse at some of the art and craft shops. Dinner is at a restaurant of choice on the Waterfront (own account).

Day 2: Knysna to Oudtshoorn via Wilderness (±125 km)

Today you travel from Knysna to Oudtshoorn situated in the semi arid Klein Karoo (“Little Karoo”). Your first scenic stop will be at Wilderness at the Map of Africa viewpoint (weather permitting). After a lunch stop (own account), you continue your journey to George. Here you leave the Garden Route and turn inland over the Outeniqua Mountains to enter the Klein Karoo on your way to Oudtshoorn, the Ostrich Capital of the world. You travel along the Cango Valley to the renowned Cango Caves. At the caves you do a standard one hour tour. Enjoy this wonderful experience: you will see cavernous caves, amazing dripstone stalactites and huge stalagmites- a more than worthwhile experience.

Ostrich farm

Day 3: Oudtshoorn to Cape Town via Route 62 (± 440 Km)

After breakfast you visit an ostrich farm for an introduction to these strange birds, the largest flightless bird specie in the world. You will be introduced to their hatchery, the habits of the birds as well as have an opportunity to ride one of them ( ride for own account). You then take the popular route 62 to travel along the valleys of the Klein Karoo with ever changing landscapes. A lunch break will be made en route (own account). The route will pass through the Mountains via the Tradouw Pass to rejoin the N2 for Cape Town. You cross the Hottenstots Holland Mountains via the Sir Lowry's Pass and catch your first views of the majestic Table Mountain and Cape Town. In Cape Town you will be dropped off at your hotel or the Cape Town International Airport to end this tour.
