The 4-star De Opstal Country Lodge is a country hotel located on a working farm near Oudtshoorn. It is about halfway between town and the very popular Cango Caves and right on the route between the two destinations.

The Lodge lies at the entrance to the beautiful Schoemanshoek Valley, a small farming community. The Guest suites and restaurant are housed in converted farm buildings that date back to 1840. The establishment’s 21 suites feature terracotta floors, heavy wooden doors and shutters and wide timber and read ceilings.

Cango Caves

The Cango Caves are located in the foothills of the Swartberg Mountains, some 28km north of Oudtshoorn in the Klein Karoo near South Africa's popular Garden Route. The Caves, a national monument and one of South Africa's top 20 tourist attractions, feature huge concert-hall sized chambers as well as narrow passages and rooms.

Outeniqua Pass

The Outeniqua Mountain Range runs from East to West and is the great divide between the Garden Route to the South and the Little Karoo to the North. The main road between the towns of George in the Garden Route to Oudtshoorn in the Little Karroo traverses the scenic Outeniqua Pass.

Klein Karoo

The Klein Karoo (Little Karoo) in South Africa is the smaller brother, of the Great Karoo to its North. The Klein Karoo is a hot and dry fairly narrow valley that runs from East to West, bordered to the North by the Swartberg Mountain range and to the South by the Outeniqua Mountains.

The scenic Cogmanskloof Mountain Pass is encountered on the pupular Route 62 between Montagu and Ashton in South Africa's Western Cape Province.

Route 62

Route 62 connects Cape Town to Port Elizabeth and is an exciting alternative to the National Road (N2). The R62 offers the traveler a constantly changing landscape with vineyards and fruit orchards, interspersed with dry arid areas, always surrounded by mountain ranges of different kind and shape.
