The Makalali Private Game Reserve is situated in the Hoedspruit region close to the iconic Kruger National Park. It covers a conservancy of 26,000 ha and is home to the ‘big five’ (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino). It furthermore, boasts more than 1,000 wild animals that live and freely roam there.
The Makalali Lodge consists of three exclusive camps. Each camp offers a swimming pool, an open air boma for outdoor dinners in the evening, as well as an enclosed dining area. Each camp has six luxury suites with en-suite bathrooms, an open air shower, a fireplace and a raised viewing deck.
Game drives in open Landrover safari vehicles are on offer twice a day. Each vehicle has an experienced tracker and a qualified game ranger to find the animals and share interesting facts on the animals and birds that you spot. Game walks in the bush accompanied by experienced game rangers are also available on request.
All the rangers have the necessary qualifications to identify stars of the Southern hemisphere on night game drives.
The 5 Day Wildlife Experience Scheduled Tour, starts in Johannesburg and ends in Durban. It includes the Makalali Private Game Reserve, the Panorama Route, The Kruger National Park, The Mthethomusha Game Reserve, a game drive and walk in the iSimangaliso Wetland Park and a boat cruise on the St. Lucia Estuary.
