Port Edward is the most southerly of the Hibiscus Coast towns and also the most southerly on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast. The Mtamvuna River just south-west of Port Edward marks the local border between the South African provinces of KwaZulu-Natal and (across the River) the Eastern Cape.
The town feature beautiful stretches of sandy beach, as well as rocky patches. Port Edward has typical KwaZulu-Natal subtropical coastal vegetation. Some of the more notable attractions within a 100km radius include the spectacular Oribi Gorge, Glenmore and Margate Beaches, the cascading Nyandezulu Waterfall and the San Lameer Golf Estate. The latter features an upmarket hotel, lovely swimming beach and top-notch golf course.
The main attraction though lies just south of the Mtamvuna River. The Wild Coast Sun is a 750ha resort that includes a hotel, casino, championship golf course, a water fun park, water activities on the River and a beautiful stretch of coastline.
