Hazyview is a small town in Mpumalanga's Lowveld region. Although the greater Hazyview region is beautiful and does justify the poetic name, the town itself is rather drab. It is basically a collection of convenience stores and markets - nothing to write home about.
Its greatest benefit is its location on the main route to the nearby Kruger National Park's main entrance gate - Kruger Gate, as well as the Numbi Gate entrance.
It is also en-route to the excellent private game reserves located within the Sabi Sands Reserve, a private extension to the Kruger Park. The town is relatively close to the Panorama Route.
The whole Hazyview - White River - Nelspruit area is extremely rich in tropical fruit cultivation with, among others, huge banana plantations near Hazyview. The region offers excellent accommodation facilities including golf resorts and game lodges. Various safari and adventure activities and tours operate in the region.

The Lowveld was previously known as the Eastern Transvaal Lowveld. Following the end of Apartheid in 1994 the province's name was changed to Mpumalanga and the area is simply called The Lowveld. The Lowveld section of the province is part of the coastal plane and is more or less 200m above sea-level.
The scenic Panorama Route, with various viewpoints, runs along the top of a section of the escarpment between the Mpumalanga Highveld and Lowveld. It offers incredible views, we strongly recommend it. The Route may be approached from Ohrigstad or from the logging town of Graskop.
The Kruger National Park in South Africa is internationally renowned as a world leader in conservation policies, practices and techniques. This Park stretches over 20 000 square kilometers (2 million hectares) and is home to an incredible variety of plant, bird and animal species, including the “big five” (elephant, lion, rhinoceros, leopard and buffalo).
Elephant Whispers is situated near Hazyview on the banks of the Sabie River. It offers the opportunity for direct “face to face’ encounters with these magnificent animals. It gives the opportunity to touch elephants and to get a feel of their inquisitive sensitive trunks. An elephant back bush ride can be arranged for a limited number of guests.
Mpumalanga Province in South Africa is home to a variety of indigenous African cultures, each with their own language and traditions. The cultures represented in this region include the Zulu, Shangaan and Swazi. The Kruger Cultural Village offers visitors the opportunity to experience this intriguing variety of traditional lifestyles.
The Shangana Cultural Village, located outside Hazyview, introduces visitors to the Shangaan culture, one of the largest language groups in South Africa’s Mpumalanga Lowveld.
