Chapman's Peak Drive is a particularly scenic drive that connects Hout Bay and Noordhoek on the Cape Peninsula near Cape Town. It features a couple of lookout points with spectacular views over the Atlantic Ocean. The drive forms part of a typical full-day Cape Peninsula excursion.
The most popular lookout point is located at the highest point of the route. From there you have views over the Atlantic and Hout Bay Harbour in the distance, Sentinel Peak, the bay and Duiker Island - commonly known as ‘Seal Island’. In season Southern Right Whales are often spotted in the waters below the lookout.
Due to the scenic beauty of Chapman’s Peak Drive it forms part of the very popular annual 109 km Cape Argus Cycle Tour (with around 35 000 participants) and the well known 56 km Two Oceans Ultra Marathon.
